BrickTops

Jessica | August 29, 2009

Last weekend, Mario and I visited a place we’ve been eying for quite a while, BrickTops. Located on the corner of Peachtree and Piedmont, BrickTops enjoys a good amount of visibility. Self-described as an American-style bistro, BrickTops’ interior said “comfortable luxury” and the menu showcased a few “luxurious” prices as well (e.g. $14 chicken tenders).

Mario and I (well, really just I) started with one of my favorite hors d’oeuvres, Deviled Eggs with Sugar Bacon:

The sugar bacon was delicious (and inspired me to finally go ahead and make some as shown in the previous post) and the deviled eggs were creamy and had a sweet taste. I prefer mine with a spicy kick, but they were good enough for jazz.

For entrees, Mario had a “usual” of his, fried shrimp and fries, and I tried the crab cake salad (jumbo lump crab cake, whole grain mustard sauce, mango, avocado, pine nuts):

Though fried shrimp is Mario’s “usual”, these were anything but. Perfectly seasoned and crunchy, and fantastic fries to match. Yum! My crab cake salad was a really interesting mix of flavors–the crab cake was great; more crab than cake, and paired with sweet mango and creamy avocado. It seemed like the salad incorporated everything but the proverbial kitchen sink. I wasn’t a fan of the dressing, but everything else was great. My only complaint was the $16 price tag.

BrickTops seems to be a good place to meet up for drinks at the bar or to watch the traffic on Peachtree from the spacious patio. The food is tasty, though pricey for what you get. However, I doubt the clientèle of Buckhead businesspeople mind dropping the extra change.
