Sweet Pockets Cupcakes

Jessica | November 16, 2009

As of last week, I have sworn off cupcakes until Thanksgiving. For real. Depending upon my willpower this hiatus may even be extended through December. So for my last hurrah, I visited Vinings cupcakery Sweet Pockets.

Sweet Pockets

Sweet Pockets

Sweet Pockets, like Noon Midtown, is also a product of a daily-grinder (architect) turned chef. I tried their red velvet cupcake, and Mario got one of their specials, pecan pie:

My red velvet cupcake was sooo moist and delicious. The edges of it almost had a slight crunch, which for some reason, I loved. I feel one can never go wrong with cream cheese icing, so there were no complaints there. Mario’s pecan pie cupcake had a number of pecans in the cake and was also very moist. His icing wasn’t as sweet as mine, but complimented the cupcake very well and really tasted like a slice of pecan pie!

Sweet Pockets hasn’t taken my top spot for Atlanta cupcakes, but they were quite good nonetheless. They are open Mon-Sat 11am-6pm (or until they’re out of cupcakes), and take special orders. Can’t wait to visit again when I’m back in Vinings (and when my cupcake hiatus is over)!
