Jambalaya, Crawfish Pie, File Gumbo

Jessica | December 3, 2009

Ok, so my family only served one of those dishes for Thanksgiving, but isn’t that a great song anyway? I’ve been MIA since Thanksgiving because finals are next week, so I’m stopping in to share a few pics of my family’s spread, starting with some homemade Muscadine Wine from my aunt and uncle:

I don’t know what they did with this wine, but it was delicious and had a ridiculous alcohol content.

I was with a bunch of aunts, uncles, and cousins at a huge cabin we rented out on the Louisiana side of the Toledo Bend Reservoir. Hilarity ensued.

So, here’s [most of] the spread:

and my plate:

Clockwise from the top, mac and cheese, ham, green bean casserole, mom’s sweet potato casserole (bomb!!), my braised greens (underneath a roll), and at 12:00 above the plate, grandma’s gumbo, which I had been looking forward to for weeks. We also had stuffing, turkey, a few more sides, and an array of desserts, so this was just my first plate :-)

I’m already looking forward to Christmas!! And I’ll be back soon with recipes for some things I’ve made in the past few weeks!
