CamiCakes Cupcakes

Jessica | January 25, 2010

I am coming to terms with the fact that I am apparently on an unofficial mission to try all of Atlanta’s cupcakes. My latest endeavor was CamiCakes Cupcakes, which originated in Florida and now has 3 locations; 2 in Florida, and one here in ATL. My friend Tracie and I made an impromptu stop after noticing the storefront in a shopping center on Peachtree on our way back from lunch one afternoon.

All of the cupcakes looked really delicious, but I finally settled on a Strawberries -n- Cream (strawberries cream cheese frosting on yellow cake) and a Chocolate Peanut Butter Cream (chocolate cake topped with peanut butter cream cheese frosting). Prepare for drooling after the jump:

Thus far, Caryn’s Cakes holds my top spot for cupcakes, but I think CamiCakes takes a close second. The cake style for each shop is different, which may make some prefer one over the other. Caryn’s cake is light and moist, while CamiCakes’ cake is more dense and moist. The texture reminded me more of, say, box-made cupcakes (not in a bad way). The strawberries -n- cream was a little underwhelming for me, mostly because I only noticed 2 pieces of strawberry in the strawberry cream cheese frosting. Since it was cream cheese flavored and not strawberry flavored, this made a difference. The Chocolate Peanut Butter Cream was DELICIOUS. The frosting was really yummy (naturally I thought so, Reeses are my favorite candy) and there was a good frosting-to-cake ratio.

I’ve since been back with Mario to try the sweet potato (fantastic!!) and white chocolate macadamia (also great). CamiCakes Cupcakes takes large orders with advance notice, and with their cupcakes’ undeniable cuteness, I think they would be great for events or showers. On top of that, the staff is super friendly and the space is as adorable as the cupcakes, which makes for an enjoyable experience all around.

These cupcakes do look super cute. The frosting to cake ratio is very important. I think Caryn’s Cakes cupcake have a little too much frosting. By reading this blog, I developing the cupcake addiction too. Lol

Lol Mario told me the same thing yesterday. But if you think Caryn’s have too much icing, these will be way too much for you. For me, icing is the best part :-)
